Flipping the House in Kansas City

Just some more destruction and getting the kitchen ready for some updates.
I just got back from the Home Depot, they have some good deals going on right now on appliances and I need them all with the exception of the Fridge that I found and purchased on Craigslist. I figured I had better post some pictures of what it looked like before I started ripping everything out.

It has been a while! Main Bathroom
With the warm weather that we enjoyed late into the season I did plenty of work out side, I had a lot of trees that needed to be cut down and others that needed to be trimmed. So i have done a lot of that, a lot still to do in the spring.
I am going to utilize the cold weather to continue working on my inside projects. The second bathroom upstairs needed to be remodeled, this is actually a priority because I only have one working shower right now which is located in the master bathroom, in order to have a working shower I need to fix up the main bath in order to remodel the master bath.
Everything was going really smooth until i realized that the tub cast cast iron, wow was that heavy. I decided to abort trying to move it as one piece and that I needed to break it into pieces to make it much more manageable.
Here are so photos of the Bathroom:
The sledge hammer broke right down the middle of the handle so that made it a little tricky, but that tub is gone and now I can install the new one. When I get to that I will update the Bathroom, might take some time with the holidays coming up!

Working on the house has commenced!
I finally closed on the house on Monday August 15th. The title company took their sweet time doing there part, 6 weeks to be exact so I got the house 2 hours after reporting to my new duty station. I took some photos of the home so that you will be able to see the drastic changes made.
Above are a few photos of the living room with the nasty carpet removed. the carpet was glued to the concrete slab so i had to scrap all of that residue of the concrete so that the hardwood flooring that I will be installing will be smooth.
The next I also removed the carpet in the rest of the house, dining room, all three bedrooms and all three bathrooms. I still cant believe that they had carpet in the bathrooms.
Here is a picture of the master bedroom, it also has a valted ceiling with a skylight.
here is the shower in the master bedroom
here is the toilet in the master bedroom, this toilet has a very interesting story.
The people that previously owned this home were not very handy, the porcelain cracked where the toilet is bolted down to the flange. Thus causing a leak, the toilet itself would not hold water as everytime there was water in the bowl it leaked out, this minor repair that could have been fixed in a matter of minutes has now created alot of damage. Below are a couple of pictures to show the damage that was created. i almost forgot the best part of this, to repair the leak the people that lived here before placed 2 zip lock bags under the broked porcelain, i guess that they didnt know that the old stop a leak with a zip lock bag techineque requires 3 zip lock bags lol.
here is a picture of the subflooring around the toilet that had the leak. I will be replacing that.
Here is what the leaking toilet did to the ceiling in the kitchen, had the previous owner spent the 50 bucks to replace the toilet none of this would have occured, i guess this is the just part of the reason I was ableto purchase this house so cheap, at least the cost to replace this damaged stuff will not be to high.
I was going to update everything on here one room at a time but my phone doesnt seem to like the area as my wifi hotspot is not working properly in the house, so no internet for the time being, i should get the internet hooked up next week when I return to Kansas City after spending the weekend with my family in Des Moines, IA.
There will be much more to come. keep checking back, I will let everyone know via facebook when I have made an update to the blog.

Got the house!
The bank just informed my realtor of a counter offer that they have come up with, of coarse I accepted it as it was 7k cheaper than the asking price. So I will be traveling to Kansas City on a regular basis in the near future making the repairs to the home.
Buying the right house!
As most of you know I work for the United States Army as a recruiter. I have been recruiting in Des Moines, IA since 2005 and it is time for me to move to my next duty station. With the help of a few great friends I have been ordered to start recruing in Overland Park Kansas for the Army's Health Care Recruiting Team. It is only a few hours away from my current residence but that is to far to drive on a daily basis. I started looking for a place to stay, I discovered that there are many house for sale at a really affordable price in Kansas City Missouri, so the search for the right house began. After driving to Kansas City on the 29th of May 2011 I found the home that I wish to purchased to renovate while I live there. The first offer I made on the house was rejected, but I assumed it would be as I was lowballing them in hopes that they would respond with a counter offer that was lower that the original asking price, but they did not send me a counter offer. I just sent them another offer, I hope they accept this one as I am really close to their asking price. I have attached a few photos that were on the realtor's page for your viewing, I will update this blog on a regular basis showing the updates and details of how the house is coming along until the day I move out of the house.
These are all of the photos that I have at this time as I forgot my camera in Des Moines, IA so I was unable to take any additional photos.
A few details about the house are as follows
2033 square feet, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2 car attached garage, 25 foot valted ceiling in the living room, fireplace, and many other features that anyone would appriciate.
many more photos and updates to come as long as the bank accepts my offer, if not the search will continue.
